MTN Mobile Money is the most widely held wallet in the country. WalleoPay takes care of the technical side — the payment request, the wait for approval, the call to your server — and all you have to check is one payment identifier before you deliver.
How an MTN Mobile Money payment unfolds
Four steps, always the same ones. What changes from one operator to the next is the approval — and that is precisely the part you do not have to deal with.
You create the payment
One API call from your server, with the amount in whole francs, your order reference and the address to notify. You get a payment link back.
Your customer types in their number
On the payment page, they enter their MTN number. The prefix is enough to recognise the operator: there is no menu to pick from and no app to install.
MTN asks them for their PIN
A payment request shows up on their phone. They approve it with their Mobile Money PIN. The debit leaves their wallet, not a bank card.
Your server is notified, then checks
A signed notification reaches you the moment the payment settles. You read the status back from the API using the payment identifier, and it is that answer which decides whether you deliver.
The numbers recognised as MTN Mobile Money
Your customer has no operator to choose: the prefix of their number is enough to route the request to the right network. These ranges follow the Cameroonian numbering plan, which the regulator revises from time to time.
Accepted amounts: from 100 FCFA to 1,000,000 FCFA per payment, in whole CFA francs — the XAF has no minor unit.
What to know before you plug it in

Your customer's limits depend on the level of their MTN Mobile Money account: a payment above their ceiling comes back as a failure with an explicit reason, and is never half-debited.

A customer who prefers their USSD menu can pay the merchant code from *126, then declare the reference on the payment page: the transaction joins the confirmation queue before it is approved.

Automatic refunds to an MTN wallet do not exist here yet: today you refund from your own account and keep the proof of transfer.

The same account collects on both networks, with the same key and the same code. You do not have to pick an operator on your customers' behalf.
